Cabling - Belden, Connectors, Non-Booted, Cat 6, Ethernet

Don't Underestimate The Power Of Computer Cabling

You may think of cables as just another piece of computer equipment but the fact of the matter is that cabling is a necessity when it comes to computing if you want to be able to create a network that may include printers, scanners, copiers and other computer-related office equipment.

There are various types of cables that are used for connecting computers to various pieces of equipment but the Cat 6 allows for the most amount of traffic. Just picture it like this for a moment: If you have a 2 lane road that is expanded to 4 lanes you'll notice that it can accommodate more traffic. This is exactly the same way that cabling works. Some cables will allow smaller amounts of traffic than other cables and the Cat 6 allows the most amount of traffic.

Ethernet cables are commonly used to connect your computer to the Internet. Even if you have a wireless home network it's possible that your Internet modem is connected to your main computer via Ethernet cable. Ethernet cables are available in the standard Cat 5 or the new and improved Cat5e version. The Cat 5 or Cat5e cable varieties are mostly suitable for home use while larger networks such as those of businesses may prefer the Cat 6 which allows for more data handling capabilities.

If it weren't for cabling there wouldn't be computer networking. The cables are used to transmit information and carry data from place to place so without them we wouldn't be able to transfer data from the Internet to computers or even computers to printers.

When you are setting up a home or business computer network you should use caution when choosing what type of cable work you'll be doing. You want to think ahead and choose cables that will allow you to expand if you ever wish to do so. It will make the expansion process a lot easier if you just choose the right cables to begin with. The larger the network, the more efficient you'll want your cabling system to be.

While the Cat 5 and Cat5e cables are pretty standard right now if we look towards the future it looks as if the Cat 6 wires will eventually be the new standard.
